BACKGROUND
NeriClinics is an Irish registered
charity set up in April 2008 by a group of individuals
from a variety of backgrounds with the single goal of
improving the health of those who are less fortunate
than us. More specifically, we strive to improve the
health of those living in the poverty-stricken Linda
compound, Lusaka, Republic of Zambia.
our first step in achieving our goal is to provide a
primary care health centre in the Linda Compound and
community on the outskirts of Lusaka in the Republic of
Zambia.
our vision is to provide a first-world standard primary
Health Care service that will serve the overwhelming
need of the people of the Linda community.
we aim to have a strong emphasis on community
involvement by recruiting local community volunteers to
help as educators in healthy lifestyle practices, as
well as members of a community based health care team
who can provide some basic health services to the homes
of housebound, terminally ill and patients with
disabilities. NeriClinics limited will work with the
Zambian Ministry of Health and act as a vector of
primary care initiatives put forward by the Ministry of
Health.
The Republic of Zambia has suffered hugely from the loss
of most of its medical graduates, commonly referred
to as the drain drain. in that regard, it is a goal of
NeriClinics Limited to hire Zambian practitioners
who have relocated abroad or would be otherwise
unemployed in the domestic medical field. We have
addressed this by securing the services of an eminent
qualified Zambian doctor Mr, Patrick Chikuta who for the
last number of years has been working in the
neighbouring country of Botswana. furthermore, we have
also secured the services of both a Zambian nurse and
physiotherapist.
All and any fee income generated shall be applied to the
costs of running the clinic and any surplus shall be put
back into further development of the clinic and towards
appropriate community projects. NeriClinics remit will
be in the following areas:
- outpatient
treatment of acute and chronic illnesses in patients of
all ages
- antenatal
care & paediatrics
- voluntary
test counselling (VCT)
-
physiotherapy and health promotion
- mental
health services
The clinic is run as charitable organisation and shall
be strictly a not-for-profit organisation in accordance
with its corporate objects
